In Kochan, the artist used self-portraits for the first time and contemplates the body as a field for exploration. She established a dialogue with plans, and geographical maps, and the images lead us toward the journey each of us accomplish daily to assert our own identity.

Tell us about Switch Lab.

SwitchLab is a project-based space opened in 2018 by visual artist Dani Ghercă. It operated within the dome of the Palatul Universul from 2018 to 2022. As of September 2023, SwitchLab has relocated to Casa Presei Libere as part of the "Atelierele Scânteia" initiative. SwitchLab offers a curatorial program that centers on artists and curators who aim to engage with the space and transform it, regardless of the artistic medium they choose. With no commercial agenda, we encourage the artists we collaborate with to take risks and present exhibitions that, for various reasons, may not find a platform elsewhere. From 2023 onward, SwitchLab is managed by a team of four artists: Dani Ghercă, Michele Bressan, Nicu Ilfoveanu, and Alexandru Paul.
