DOI JOI is is a collaborative program to strengthen and develop the artistic community in Bucharest (from 2021), Cluj and Timișoara (from 2024). On the second Thursday of each month, galleries and exhibition spaces offer an extended viewing program (18:00-22:00), along with special events, vernissages, performances and artist talks.
DOI JOI is the first initiative that aims to strengthen the independent sector and its communities by organizing monthly events that bring meaningful experiences to a diverse community in search of passion, identity and community. DOI JOI is inclusive and free of charge.
Following DOI JOI’s mission of establishing an art-infused route to encourage and facilitate community interest and access to contemporary art, the Doi Joi Gallery Map assembles, for the first time, all of the city’s contemporary art galleries and artist-run spaces in one comprehensive, pocket-size map. In 2023 The Flâneur Edition of the map focusesd on encouraging people to use soft transportation. It therefore exclusively shows walking or biking distances between galleries, hoping to demonstrate that, aside from being pleasant, sustainable and cheap, soft transportation modes are also fast and are a good way of discovering the city. In 2024, the Culture Edition brought updates and expanded the list of participating spaces in Bucharest. For 2025 we plan on publishing maps for Cluj and Timișoara alongside the 3rd edition of the Bucharest map.
The DOI JOI initiative started in February 2021 in Bucharest and has more than 60 partner venues, with the addition of Cluj and Timișoara in 2024.
The second and third editions of the DOI JOI circuit were co-funded by the Administraţia Fondului Cultural Naţional (AFCN).
