Aici, acum tu nu exiști & Transcendental Translations

With Laurian Popa & Anita Schmid
Curated by Horațiu Lipot | Guided Tour with Tudor Mutrescu, Delia Malinas și Cecila Federici (curator in residence)
Laurian POPA Here, now you don't exist The new series of paintings and drawings made by Laurian Popa has spatiality as its central subject. Both the one specific to the illusory, two-dimensional environment of the painting and the extended one, of the new space built through its relation to the gaze and the viewer. A theme about the language of painting, dealing with the elements of painting. About, the deliberate system of signs and indexes that form the artistic authorial field, even the one that we tend to see as belonging to a pregnant individuation and materiality, such as that of painting; about how we see, or how we are taught to see, when our gaze is guided by conventional iconographies; about morphogenesis of all kinds, this also involving the constitutive nature of physical, real objects, not just their representation; about time and how it appears in a static environment par excellence. (…) - fragment of the curatorial text written by Horațiu LIPOT Transcendental Translation”, the first solo exhibition in Romania by Austrian artist Anita Schmid, in the Jecza Projects space! -- “AURA” - reminiscence of spirits "Inherently delicate, sensuous and celebratory, Schmid’s artworks draw back to a nurturing view of nature: patterns of benevolence permeate the room, an ascensional sense of peace of sight that has been longed for, a warm matrilineal knowledge passed to the next generation create a balanced equilibrium." - A fresh perspective on Schmid’s work written by our curator in residence, Cecilia Federici.
