Tell us about Cazul 101.
Case101 is a multidisciplinary art space opened in February 2018 by a group of artists from Bucharest that aims to exhibit, support and promote emerging national and international artists. This artist-run space initiative was created in the precarious context of exhibition and production spaces and opportunities accessible to young Romanian artists. The project has been operating in several spaces since its inception, including a house, then a garage in the Cotroceni district, always in an independent, self-supported and self-financed way. Currently, Case 101 operates in the building known as Malmaison on Calea Plevnei 137C, where a new artistic community has taken shape in Bucharest called Atelierele Malmaison. On August 10, 2020, Case 101 inaugurated an extension of itself called Another Mobile Gallery (AMG), a dynamic space designed as an alternative to the usual contemporary art gallery. Beginning as a van, AMG is currently not tied to a physical space, but continues with the primary purpose of offering pop-up art exhibitions that can take place anywhere in the world.
